spring flower greetings

hey all! if this past weekend was any indication, spring is quickly on its way to being sprung! and along with the beautiful weather, flowers, outdoor weddings, and hoards of dogs being walked outside comes spring craft shows! as usual, i have a pretty full schedule. if you live in the Philadelphia area or NYC, please come out and check out all of the handmade goodies us vendors have been working on all winter :)

clover market spring 2013

kicking off my craft season and The Clover Market spring season, I will be returning to the popular show in Ardmore, PA on Sunday, April 14th! the first date listed will be the only one I’m participating in, but if you’re free any of the above dates you need to check out this show. not only is it packed with a rotating cast of talented artists, but there are unique booths of vintage and antiques to peruse as well. here’s a list of the vendors, broken down by each month. to get a better visual idea of what will be there, check out this comprehensive pin board. also, tune in to my blog tomorrow for a clover market themed etsy treasury tuesday post :)

go west craft fest 2013

the following Saturday, April 20th I’m headed to West Philly to return to the local favorite Go West Craft Fest at the beautiful Woodlands Cemetery. this show features a wide range of handmade items and is really family friendly, with a small local acrobatic group performing throughout the day and local snack and ice cream vendors. it runs from 11-5pm and is easily accessible via public transportation- steps away from a trolley station and short walk from 30th Street Station. here’s a list of the vendors and here’s a Go West! themed pin board to get a visual of who all will be there :)

the weekend after that, I’m taking a break to celebrate my birthday with friends since I was away for the actual date in March. however, if you’re looking for a fun activity to fill up your Saturday, check out Crafty Balboa in South Philadelphia, one of my favorite craft shows that runs in conjunction with East Passyunk’s Flavors of the Avenue event.

BUST Magazine Spring Craftacular

I’m kicking off the month of May in New York City with the annual BUST Magazine Spring Craftacular on Saturday, May 4th. It’s been over a year since I’ve done a show with BUST and I’m pretty excited to come back, see some new faces, and shop! This outdoor show is at the Pearl Street Plaza on the DUMBO, Brooklyn waterfront- right near the Brooklyn Bridge! The vendor list isn’t up at this time, but keep an eye on my twitter and I’ll post the link. The show is one day and runs from 11-6pm.

art star craft bazaar 2013

I’ll be ending the spring season with a bang at the biggest Philadelphia show of the year- Art Star Craft Bazaar at Penn’s Landing on May 11th and May 12th. This two day event coincides with Mother’s Day weekend- Saturday is a great day to shop for your momma and Sunday is a great day to shop with your momma :) This show is huge and brings vendors from near and far- here’s a comprehensive vendor list with links and photos. the first 150 people to arrive each day will get a tote bag full of vendor goodies. also, a little birdie told me that the Art Star ladies will be holding a Craft Bazaar giveaway on social media sometime in the near future- be sure to check them out on twitter at @artstarphilly and instagram also @artstarphilly

That’s all for now, folks! I’m looking at a couple of potential shows in June, but will be taking a craft show break for the majority of the summer. Hope to see you sometime this spring!

hey all!

it’s been a while since an update, including etsy treasuries- I’ve missed two in a row :( my apologies- the past few weeks have been a whirlwind- I did a post-Valentine’s show at 30th Street Station, threw a baby shower for a co-worker, celebrated two of my close friends getting engaged, traveled to West Virginia twice, shot an engagement session, cranked out new spring prints in the studio, snowboarded in Colorado, and celebrated my birthday yesterday- whew! after that recap, i can understand how the middle of March crept up on me.

at the 30th Street Craft Market, I debuted my new magnets and magnet sets, as well as my new greeting card display:

new product

i will have all of the above products at any upcoming spring shows (you can see the updated schedule in the upper right hand corner of this blog) as well as my *new* spring floral art prints and cards! right now i have two original patterned designs- pansies and lily of the valley:

you can check out the greeting card versions on my etsy: pansies and lily of the valley.

in early February, Nick and I dusted off the snowboard rust and headed to West Virginia. it was great to visit my family and enjoy the snow all in one weekend! we stayed at Canaan Valley Resort, where they were enjoying the best snow they’d had all season.

then, a month later, we trekked out to Colorado with a big group and hit the slopes. up until that point, I’d never been on a mountain so big! it was beautiful and mildly terrifying. here is Nick resting, waiting for me to finish taking the photo:

Breckenridge Colorado

after a fun (and tiring) long weekend out West, we headed home. I barely had time to unpack my suitcase before I hit the road again- this time to southern West Virginia to attend a weekend-long zine workshop with one of my favorite illustrators and makers, Kate Bingaman-Burt. it was an awesome way to spend my birthday weekend- meeting other young printmakers, seeing a new town, and making fun zines. I’m excited to write a post about all that we did; in the mean time, here’s a pic of the class with Kate:

anyhow, that’s the quick recap! now that I’m home for a bit, I’m working on upcoming posts about the workshop, the engagement session I did earlier in the month, the upcoming spring shows, and more! so keep an eye out. also, one more  big piece of news: I got a new day job! I start this week and am over-the-moon excited to be leaving my retail position and working in a print-related position! the hours are great and will allow me to spend more time in the studio than before. while I will miss my coworkers immensely, this really is the best next step for me.

NJtote

Hey all! You may recall that back in November, I held a fundraiser for Hurricane Sandy relief. It kicked off at the final Clover Market of the 2012 season with tote bags; I also sold tees, totes, and prints on Etsy and to friends and family. I received an amazing response and the raised WAY more than I ever anticipated. In addition to the funds raised through the sale of these items, Gap Inc. has an employee donation match program that I utilized.

RedCrossDonation

THANK YOU to everyone who helped me raise $500 dollars for Hurricane Sandy relief! With the Gap Inc. match program, we made a $1,000 donation to The Red Cross! That is amazing! It wouldn’t have been possible without the contributions of so many awesome people. I thank you and I know that the Red Cross does as well :)

hey all! i’ve been going out of my mind trying to balance the studio, holiday, day job, and wedding freelance that i’ve been neglecting my blog :( sorry for missing treasury tuesday this week- i’m hoping to have one ready to rock for next week!

the next three weekends are show craziness. my entire schedule is in the right hand column of my blog. this coming weekend, i’m kicking off the holiday season in North Carolina at the iamarket in Fayetteville on Saturday, December 1st. the next day, i’ll be in Asheville for The Big Crafty. that week, i’ll be visiting family and friends in the region before i head up to Pittsburgh to be a returning vendor at the amazing Handmade Arcade. i’ll bust a move immediately after to be back in Philadelphia for the Punk Rock Flea Market on Sunday, December 9th. the third weekend, i’ll be back to West Philly for another edition of Go West! Craft Fest, this time at the Rotunda. while i’m there, some of my work will be at a pop-up shop in Manayunk from Friday, December 14th through Sunday, December 16th.

anyhow, that’s a whole lot of holiday shopping opportunities! i’ll definitely have a lot to write about after the holidays- hopefully i’ll even be able to catch up on the posts i’m behind on now! here are a couple quick updates before i get back to packing for the week:

1. The Hurricane Sandy fundraiser was a great success! Although I do have a couple of tote bags left. Upon my return from Pittsburgh, I will make an official announcement as to how much was donated!

2. I have been working slowly but surely on a couple of new items. This season, I’m debuting some buttons!

3. I visited West Virginia over Thanksgiving to see my family and came home with a cute rescue kitty! Her name is Mugsy and she will not stop purring :)

that’s it for now- i hope to see you at a show over the next few weeks!
