December was crazy busy with shows- 4 shows in three weekends! The first weekend, I traveled to Jersey City for the Not Yo Mama’s Holiday Craft Show held at Art House Productions. The first day of the show was part of the city’s First Friday event and the second was a separate event. Here’s a photo of my setup:

my awesome neighbors (who are also from PA) were the husband & wife team of pop star crafts. check out their unique branch display with handmade star ornaments!

here are some other vendors whose work i really enjoyed:

these tiny crochet animals by studio llama llama bring a smile to everyone’s face.

it was a pleasure to meet and chat with fellow printmaker nicole poko of another husband & wife team of nightingale projects. i really enjoyed their work and setup!

love these cute little creature pins by fluffy goodness.

loved these pantone accessories by defenestration.

how fun are these pillows by ula nice?

i’m a sucker for moustaches! especially these by cheek & stitch.

the following weekend, i ventured to new york city (!!) for my first ever show there! i was a one-day participant in the holiday 2011 BUST magazine craftacular. it was at a great underground space in SoHo- check out the hall i was in:

the next day, i headed back to philly to participate in the holiday R5 production’s punk rock flea market. it was an incredibly successful show for me- although very very chilly in the flea market dome off of spring garden.

i eventually walked around and do some shopping. i got a sweet dr. dog silkscreen poster from illustrator max gordon. i really enjoyed black heart letterpress’ work and setup- they brought out their press for prints on site! this was one of my favorite cards of theirs:

i came home with this sweet card by kristin grossi:

i thought the catjawn! table was hilarious- here’s an image from their site:

Hey all-

Just some quick updates so you know I haven’t forgotten about you!

This holiday craft season has been a whirlwind- first Handmade Arcade in Pittsburgh, then Indie Craft Experience in Atlanta and in a about an hour, I’m heading up to Jersey City for the Not Yo Mama’s Craft Fair: Holiday Edition that runs tonight and tomorrow at Art House Productions! I’ve been photographing awesome stuff every where I go and have been meeting such awesome vendors! I cannot WAIT to write about them all- I have a running list of entries to write (including Chicago in September- eek! all those weddings took over my life for a while).

If you take a look on the right, you’ll see what shows I still have coming up- including the BUST Magazine Craftacular in NYC on Saturday, December 10th (it’s a two day affair, but I’ll only be there Saturday!) and the R5 Punk Rock Flea Market in Philadelphia on Sunday, December 11th- two events that I’ve never participated in before! I’m pretty excited.

Also, the last weekend before Christmas, I’ll be a vendor at Crafty Balboa on Saturday, Dec. 17th at the Broad Street Ministry. I just took a look at the vendors who will be there this year and WHOA- Amy outdid herself with awesome-ness. Seriously though- there will be some top notch vendors that you really shouldn’t miss. AND, if you’re one of the first 50 people there, you get a free swag tote bag! BOOYA.

In other news, on Thanksgiving, I discovered my studio was filled with about 6 inches of water due to sump pump failure. I had kept a lot of stuff off of the floor, but I still had to throw out boxes of supplies, cardboard, paper, fabric, etc. Anyhow, perhaps it was the impetus I needed to clean everything up- so now, my wonderful boyfriend and I have begun completely repainting the walls in hopes to reduce the awful humidity I was dealing with in the summer. The painting/sealing process has slowed down new work creation for the time being, but I hope to be back in full swing in January!

Hope to see you this holiday season 🙂

a big thanks to the ladies who organized this year’s Not Yo Mama’s Craft Fair and the great bunch of artists and shoppers in Jersey City for making this past Saturday a great day! this was my first time as a participant and it went very smoothly. i thought the venue was pretty cool- smack in the middle of tall buildings in Jersey City:

my friend and helper Rachael and I spent the day soaking up the sun, oogling adorable dogs, and chatting with customers and neighbors. there were a couple of food trucks on hand- we both got delicious crepes from Lucinda Creperie. their chicken florentine crepe was phenom, and we finished it off with a s’mores dessert crepe- yum! (i also got some delish old bay steak fries from Mamma Marci)

there certainly was a wide array of art vendors at this particular event and i got to meet/swap with some super talented ones:

this image transfer on wood piece was so beautiful, i couldn’t resist. it has such a nostalgic feel to it and reminds me of driving around jersey and getting lost on purpose. thanks so much to Melissa Cacioppo of Birdbrain Projects for swapping with me!

i saw this little winter cardinal friend and had to come back for him! upon my return, i chatted with his creator Laura Fisk of fisk&fern and we really hit it off. turns out little Bert is printed on my favorite printmaking paper of all time (the ultra luxurious Magnani Pescia Paper in Light Blue) and that Laura knows my friends Brainstorm! we swapped and she took home my squeegee print– so glad it went to a screenprinter’s home 🙂 best of luck in Austin, Laura!

one of my booth neighbors was Heather Wells of Bright Lights, Little City– she had a great array of unique items, from lamps to origami to hair accessories. i fell in LOVE with this metal floral head band. turns out, they are vintage gold plated flowers that her grandmother designed way back when . . . now Heather revamps them into one-of-a-kind adornments. awesome!

anyhow . . . NYMCF was my last definite show of the summer. i *might* do an event on July 31st in NoLibs, but it is 10 hours long and i don’t know if i have it in me to sit by myself for that long (any friends want to join me? get at me haha). unfortunately, the Heartsy coupon deal didn’t work out this time around- but when one door closes, another opens: I got accepted to Renegade CHICAGO! ahhh! i honestly didn’t think it would happen, so i am thrilled 🙂 it is in september, so between then and now i will be working hard to revamp my booth setup for *hopefully* the final time and come up with some great new prints!

did i mention i jumped on the bandwagon and started printing on French Paper? so excited! this opens doors to larger editions and even MORE paper color variety in the long run. of course, i’ll still have some prints on BFK, etc- i still love tradition. here is one of my new prints on French Paper:

this is actually a revamp of an older print- now it is more layers and an easy size for framing! you can purchase it from my etsy righttttttt . . . HERE.

hey friends!

it’s been a while . . . i owe you a big post about how awesome Art Star Craft Bazaar was and to show off some of the cool swag i got, but tonight is sadly not the night. (ALSO- if i met you at Art Star and said I would print a shirt in your size, I didn’t forget you!! more shirts are in the works) i’ve also been busy with some photo shoots . . . links will follow soon.

mostly, i just wanted to post a reminder about two shows i’m doing in june:

Art for the Cash Poor is one of my favorite Philly events-great food (HELLLOOO Guapos Tacos will be there this year!), flowing bevs (it’s sponsored by Philadelphia Brewing Company!), and a super selection of art! Info is in the right column.

Also, have you ever heard of Not Yo Mama’s Craft Fair? Well, I hadn’t either, but I got accepted to this relatively young show in Jersey City at the end of the month. I’m excited to meet some new artists and shoppers!

be back soon with some cool snappers, new items in my etsy store, and possibly a show announcement?
